As part of the Sea Portals project I developed a new series of five plates deconstructing the movement of a wave with five seconds of film stills.
The plates were thrown in terracotta, painted with slip , fired, glazed, fired again, the transfers were applied and they were fired a final time.
The series come in a bespoke birch shelf box so they can be displayed with a slight overlap mimicking the lapping waves and the passing of time.
They were first shown at the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair this year - as pictured next to the Sea Portals ~ Thresholds Series.
MAKING THINGS AND BREAKING THINGS AND MAKING THINGS FROM BROKEN THINGS
Made in Terracotta, Smooth Black and White Stoneware with a leather band detail and brass magnets, the pots are glazed inside and have cork stoppers. The spice ammunition belt can be worn or (sl)hung up for quick on the draw cowboy cookery.
ONE SIDED POTS
Inspired by the shapes of the Barbican centre in London. A playful range of pots for displays and assemblages. Slip cast in the natural subtle tones of different clay bodies. Can be used as cups or seedling pots.
Ready to be fired
Trying my hand at spoon carving in apple, lime and birch.
