ABOUT.
I was drawn to ceramics for its sensory joy and infinite possibility. To study it is to master your patience, and embrace that mistakes bring understanding.
My practice explores multiple themes and variations. The more functional side of my work is informed by my background in cooking. The worlds of food and clay have many parallels and a reciprocal relationship. Feasting, foraging and fermentation naturally feed my pots, which are intended to augment daily rituals or be the centrepiece of celebratory displays.
The more experimental, decorative side of my work is informed by ongoing research into both ancient ceramics and the industrial heritage of the craft. I reinterpret artefacts, creating unique, ambiguous objects that are, at the same time, tethered to pasts and places.
